Therapeutic Approach
I consult both the scientific evidence and the individual when approaching therapy. I acknowledge that there's no 'one size fits all' treatment and therefore I keep up to date on a wide range of therapeutic modalities. Some of these modalities are:
- Schema Therapy
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
- Gradual Exposure Therapy
- Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP)
- Mindfulness practices
ADHD assessment
I offer comprehensive ADHD assessments for those wanting to gain clarity around diagnosis.
These assessments involve:
**If it is looking unlikely that you will meet criteria for diagnosis at any point in the assessment process, I will inform you of this and you have the option of choosing to discontinue the assessment process, and will only be charged a partial fee
**If you are seeking a diagnosis for the purpose of medication prescribing, I would recommend booking in with a psychiatrist instead. Psychiatrists are required to make their own diagnostic assessment, and while reports from a psychologist can be helpful, you may wish to avoid "doubling up" on the assessment process.
These assessments involve:
- 1 x 50 minute sessions including a structured clinical interview, where i will assess if your symptoms are consistent with the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for ADHD
- You and an individual you know well will be asked to complete questionnaires about your traits
- 1 x 50 minute history taking assessment, where i gather relevant background information to help inform the diagnosis
- Using all of this information, I write up a very detailed report outlining the diagnosis, your history, as well as treatment options and management strategies that are individualised to you.
